ElliptiGO--Lifesaver
Diehard ElliptiGO FAN---
I have several reasons for writing this review.(.I never write them..maybe once..) This review is for the new ARC from ElliptiGO, and for the company itself. First...I am an extremely satisfied owner of the first ElliptiGO machine, a black 8C...15,000+ miles and counting..if you haven't experienced these machines, it is really difficult to describe the overall feeling when riding..yes, it is like a bike, in that you "pedal" to propel the machine, it's also like running...you're upright and your legs move in a similar elliptical/circular motion...overall it is the most amazing aerobic workout I've ever had. I ran and raced bicycles competitively for 35 years before an odd condition called EIAE (exercise induced arterial endofibrosis).basically, I spent so many hours bent over a bike that the arteries feeding my legs became scarred and inflexible...long story short---I had to stop riding..the ElliptiGO saved me..literally..from the moment I stepped on it I was hooked..it satisfies every part of my aerobic addiction!!!..and allows me to travel the same roads I did as a cyclist. There is absolutely no pounding of the joints and no more sore necks or butt!!.
The new ARC is a little different animal...it feels more like running because the motion of the pedals mimics a circle more than an flattened oval. The workout is just as intense but more quad heavy, where the original rig is more hamstring heavy. I don't want the word "intense" to scare people off. the beauty of this invention is that it caters to the rider. It doesn't matter if you are rehabbing from knee surgery or just want to reclaim your "physical spirit" again...the bike will respond to that need...it just so happens I like to take my ElliptiGOs up every hill in Colorado...and it happily obliges!!
The ARC is lighter and perhaps a bit more nimble than the 8C...but for me those are traits that don't really make it a completely different experience. The ARC is a very different motion and because of that I will happily go back and forth between the two..I haven't had a chance to venture into the mountains yet..but I certainly will when the seasons are more in my favor and I suspect this new ARC will climb quicker and descend just as quick. These bikes are very stable, even at 40-50 mph!!...because you are upright the wind resistance eventually limits your downhill speed but the view is great!. I would recommend this bike to anyone...especially if you are an older runner--and I know your knees and backs and hips bother you! You will be AMAZED...I guarantee it...if you think running or cycling can't be beat I challenge you to check out the ARC or the other ElliptiGOs..
If you are worried about the balance thing or whether or not you will be able to manage the bike...you just have to try it..after a few rides it becomes as natural as anything else.
I love the new ARC because it targets muscles and movements that the original bike doesn't, as much. i also love it because it feels more like running and that feels natural..
At some point I really feel like bikes like this will be more the "norm" than the oddity. Run a marathon and then run a marathon on an ARC and you tell me which feels better, and which one you recover from quicker!!...clear winner here..especially if you are pushing on toward 60, or 50...and your body just doesn't, or can't, do what it once could..this bike has given me a whole new life..no exaggeration..
Happy to answer any questions thrown my way..
oh, by the way...the people that run the company are amazing...nothing they won't do to make ya happy...this is not a company that disappears after the sale...the complete opposite...the GO owners are a growing family that really seem to look out for each other
