An honest review
Given the huge amount of questionable reviews and unscrupulous sellers offering free items for positive reviews, I'll start by saying that I didn't receive any compensation whatsoever for this product or review, I simply looked at the options and bought this one. This is the 3rd massage cushion i've owned...I've had lower back pain most of my adult life, mostly due to scoliosis, and frankly, not the greatest posture. I'm 60 and I'm very active, but in the past few years my back pain has gotten worse, and massage is the best way for me to get relief. Overall, It's pretty good for a cushion. The 2 previous ones I owned were Homedics, mostly in the $100 range, and this is an improvement. I can't speak for it's durability since I've only had it a short time, but if I have problems I'll be sure to post back.. Pros: The gel balls are nice... still very firm (and I like a deep pressure massage) but not quite as hard as plastic. The Spot function is excellent, I use it the most. The Rolling function is better than I thought it would be... the slow movement up and down is great, and the lower back nodes actually recess as the upper back nodes come forward. Surprisingly good. Overall the amount of pressure is good. Cons: like others said the neck leaves a little to be desired. But I do like that you can adjsut how far forward it comes. I've yet to see a cushion that does the neck properly. I wish you could adjust the back to come in our out like the neck. As you get about 6" from the bottom of it's travel, the lower back node recesses. Every cushion i've had does that... I'm guessing it's to avoid injuries and liability... you do need to be careful not to apply too much pressure to all the sensitive areas of your spine. But I sure wish I could a little more pressure there. Last, a few tips that I've found help me... but of course use good judgement, talk to your doc, and note that these tips only apply to me: The length of travel of all cushions I've tried is limited. A lot of people complain about that. So you have to use pillows to sit on to get it to your lower back. What's best for me is I put it flat on the bed or couch. I lay pillows or foam around it, to support the sides of my back. Then I lay down on it. BUT you must be careful... this amount of pressure can be damaging if you don't know what you're doing. Make sure it's NOT on your spine, the nodes should be on either side of your spine. Take it easy at first, if the pressure is to great just sit up and re-adjust. Experiment... quite often I'll have the pillows' edge right on the side of the roller area, to ensure that my body is lifted up enough. Also, I'm sure this will wear out the unit faster due to the greater pressure. I still prefer a real massage, it gives me the best relief. But this is a close second. Realistically, I'm probably a candidate for a true massage chair, but the cost is dautning, and I can control my pain enough with this, for the time being. I hope this has been helpful!
