I compared similar beds and read hundreds of reviews before finally deciding on this particular bed for my dog. He is a very elderly basenji who is mostly deaf, somewhat blind, and has canine age-related dementia. I'm not sure how much time he has left on this earth, but whatever time he does have I'd like for him to be able to live out with comfort and love. Because the bed may not be used for long I really didn't want to spend a huge amount of money, but I also wanted something that would give him the level of comfort I think he needs. This bed was a HUGE win! He is quite a fussy little dog and likes things his way (you'll understand if you have basenjis). For years, he has gone to bed on his dog bed, then once we are asleep he tries to sneak up on our bed and lie between us. He loves to be cuddled in with a warm body pressed up tightly on either side of him. I've been searching for a bed that would cuddle him in this way so that (hopefully!) he will stop trying to climb into bed with me. As he has gotten older he has developed restless leg syndrome and kicks me repeatedly, hard, in his sleep - so I am desperate to give him a comfy place to sleep that ISN'T my bed. He's had the bed for two nights - and for the first time in many years he spent the entire first night IN HIS BED! We woke up the next morning and he was still cuddled up exactly as he had been when we went to bed. We had to touch him to wake him up to get him to go outside. This has NEVER happened before! Last night (the second night with the bed) was exactly the same, and again I had to touch him to wake him to get him to go out. I couldn't be happier with this bed. The price was reasonable and my little dog absolutely loves it. I think he is sleeping much better than he has in years!
