The Expanse has set a new standard for science fiction.
Watching The Expanse is exciting and refreshing.. CGI incredible, and they transition in/out of it great. And it's really believable how they deal with space travel, fights, etc. Looking at Startrek Discovery, way overproduced with outlandish technology.. and enough with people in weirdo suits.. Plus in Discovery, I realized by season 3 I don't give a crap about anyone on board.. Each member of the Expanse team is unique, you feel like you know them.. Then with the re-occuring roles. Also when you look at a lot of the scenes on stations, there's a huge number of actors. Writing is excellent.
I've watched Season 1 - 4 quite a number of times now. It holds up to repeated viewings, and you gain more insight, when viewed additionally. Charactors are well thought out, casting is spot on..
Having finished watching Season 5 - this show is even more brilliant.. There is a lot of social comment to infer from this. It mirrors factions of society today, and how we act, and inter - act. Some favorite characters have been eliminated from the saga. AND some characters grow into something greater than when they were first introduced. Also new characters have been weaved into the fabric. A lot happens in Season 5 and the last episode, really changes things. I expect Season 6 will be even MORE than the previous episodes..
It's as if, all the good energy that has built up from viewers, have energized and focused the writing, acting, scripts for the next season. This show just keeps getting better. Every viewer will have their favorite characters to root for. I continue to be astounded at the beautiful elegent CGI. The space battles astound me, The design of all the ships, are precise, Space battles have been a part of sci - fi as long as there have been sci fi movies, shows.
Wisely The Expanse, approached space travel, ships, battles with a new outlook. These ships look more feasable and realistic to what one might expect in the real world a few hundred years from now. The Belters, Martians and Earthers also more closely resemble societies on Earth presently, in their attitudes.
