As the previous review mentioned, this is no Concept2 rower. I'll start with the negatives... The rollers for the seat are not as smooth. The nylon strap that works as the chain to pull the system has a very narrow gap to go though to avoid rubbing. I prefer to lean forward (from the back) when contracting while rower instead of sitting tall though the whole motion, this machine is to short that is causes me to return the handle all the way to the home position without being about to go any further for more range of motion. That being said, I am only 5'8" so a much taller person might not be able to lean forward much, if at all, if you rower in this fashion. This was my first magnetic resistance rower and if you have never used one before, just be warned their an odd feeling over air (I knew this before buying and you should research it yourself too). Finally, related to the resistance, the magnetic resistance doesn't increase the fast you go like an air resistance goes so that might be an issue for anyone doing some High Intensity Interval Training. The GOOD: ITS CHEAP! Hard to get a rower cheaper than this that still performs as well as this one does. Very quite, I watched a small tv in my room while rowing without any difficulties hearing the movie over the rower.The directions are vague but it's so simple the pictures explain it all. Resistance is well laid out for about everyone, unlike most magnetic resistances that the upper levels are near impossible, this rower will give you a good fight at max resistance (coming for an avid motocross rider who rowers for 20 mins a day) or drop to the low levels and an older or weaker person will be able to handle it perfectly. My conclusions is again, its not Concept2 Rower but for $280 and free shipping you still get a fantastic deal and have the extra money whatever else you want. Unless youre running a gym or simply want the lexury or the Concept2, this rower here will do everything you ask of it and make you stronger in the process. 5 stars in my book!
