Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep
So I'm pretty tall. Not the vain, "oh-look-I-can-see-over-you" kinda tall, but more of the "oh-my-god-it's-coming-this-way" kinda tall. Like 6-foot, 9-inches of tall, which makes it hard to find a cot that doesn't leave my legs dangling off the end like tasty snake snacks.
So when I found this elongated cot option, I rolled the proverbial die and gave it a whirl. It's inaugural deployment was a multi-day outland excursion into the canyonlands of Utah. I weigh a feathery 220 lbs, but the Teton elevated me above the rocky terrain with aplomb. It takes a bit of wrestling to engage the shorter aluminum slats at each end, but once assembled, the surface is as taut as a funeral drum.
The entire apparatus is substantially built, so the folded iteration is a bit bulky and on the heavier side. But it kept my buttermilk-soft posterior off the cold, unforgiving ground, and denied any wandering reptiles or scorpions an opportunity to snuggle with me. The dark fabric does tend to showcase any camping dust and dirt, but it brushes off fairly easily.
