Okay there are many reviews from people who couldn't get it to lock and others that made fun of those that couldn't and called them idiots. Here's the deal: This wand doesn't click into place, it tightens into place by rotating the top pole and holding the lower pole steady until it tightens. If you're like me and don't know it doesn't click, you find yourself rotating it around and around trying to feel or hear where it should click and if you did that in the wrong direction...it will take a ton of twists to get it to tighten when you finally go in the right direction. I finally figured it out and can easily understand how many people got frustrated and felt it was broken. When I held the wand with the top pole in my right hand and the bottom pole in my left hand I twisted AWAY from me to tighten. Be warned if you were playing with it a while trying to get it to click (which it doesn't), it may take a whole lot of turns to tighten that first time, after that youre good to go. One star removed for lack of proper directions.
