I have replaced my electronic coffee maker with this pot. I made the switch after my last coffee maker crapped out; I was tired of buying a new coffee maker every time something on the maker quit working. This pot is simple; you put grounds and water in and in a few minutes you have coffee. No, there's no timer on it; so one less thing to break. No, there's no electric heating element; so one less thing to break. The entire percolator is made of stainless steel so you have no fears of dropping it. Two additional side effects of this percolator that I hadn't counted on is that I get MORE coffee flavor from this percolator than I ever got from any coffee maker AND there is much less evaporation of the water so I get 2 additional cups of coffee from a full pot. You get more coffee and better tasting coffee with this simple (AND MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE) percolator
