This review is intended to help potential buyers of this life vest. This is a Type 3 life vest, which is designed only to FLOAT the child, NOT to hold him/her on their back and face up!! All the critical reviews I read before ordering this life vest were concerned that it did not hold their child face up. BUT it is NOT designed to do that. For that purpose, one needs a Type 1 or Type 2 life vest, which this manufacturer also sells. This was clearly explained in the literature that came with the vest, but may not be obvious to those who are not used to the different classes of vests. As a Type 3 vest, this item is well constructed and it provides very adequate flotation for my grandchild, but it should not be used without an adult nearby in case the child needs assistance.
