The best indoor grill I have ever used. Nearly smokeless and easy to clean.
The Amazon description was not up when I wrote this review, so I list here what you get in the package:
1. Ninja Food Pro 5-in-1 Indoor Grill (the large main unit that plugs in)
2. 10" x 10" ceramic-coated grill grate (a truly excellent grilling grate! Grilling is what makes the Ninja worth it.)
3. 4-quart ceramic-coated crisper basket
4. Integrated smart temperature probe (works great if you insert it properly)
5. Roasting rack
6. Griddle
7. Veggie tray
8. Cleaning brush (nothing to write home about)
9. 20-recipe book (very useful with some nice ideas)
This grill does four different cooking tasks (Grill, air crisp, bake, and roast) as well as dehydration. I tried the grill, bake and air crisp functions and was pleased with all three. The grill is nearly smoke free, even when cooking a thick steak. Not sure how the Ninja accomplishes the smoke removal, but it works. The bake function is perfect for small tasks and the air crisp did a nice job on some French fries left over from a trip to the local pub. The Ninja did as good but no better than the cheap air fryer that we bought from Costco, so if all you want is as air crisper or fryer, don't waste your money on this one. But if you want an indoor grill, this excels. It is much better than my George Forman in terms of flexibility and smoke removal. It is also much easier to clean as discussed below.
The smart temperature probe is excellent at controlling meat cooking. You can select the level of “doneness” accurately provided you have meat that is thick enough to properly insert the probe. This probe can be used either to control the cooking process or, if you prefer, monitor the temperature. I tried both functions, both worked but I preferred the monitoring function. When you are on timed cooking or grilling, you can open the lid to check on things, and the timer stops until you close the lid again. Very handy and a feature I have not seen on any other indoor grills.
Cleanup is very easy as all the key items can be removed and either put in the sink for cleaning by hand or placed in the dishwasher. The cleaning brush is adequate, but I preferred using my own cleaning utensils. The 20-recipe cookbook is a nice addition and it does have a few recipes I plan to try out.
