These binoculars have really nice clarity and very good power (magnification). The compass is really nice, especially when boating. The backlight for the compass is marginal, but how often are you going to be shooting a bearing at night using these? We have two pair, so you can tell the person you're with, "look over at 135 degrees, there's dolphins there." I haven't dropped them in the water, but no reason to doubt the seal. Image clarity all the way to the edges is the take away here. You also need to focus each rice individually, but the depth of field is good and lots of adjustment isn't usually required. Very nice glass for a very reasonable price (half what West Marine wants for similar).
