If both input / output device do not support signal conversion, a signal conversion box is required." FOR YOU IMPATIENT PEOPLE, HERE'S THE QUICK TRANSLATION AND ANSWER: ***NO! THIS WILL *NOT* WORK FOR YOUR PS3/PS4/Xbox 360/WiiU/DVD Player/Blu-ray/Laptop/Cable box. NO. No. NO.*** Now, maybe they do not make it clear enough for the layman, but this type of cable is NOT for outputting from a standard HDMI port to component inputs. It is for SPECIFIC devices that push analog video through HDMI, and there aren't very many that do this. LET ME REPEAT THIS FOR THE NON-TECH-SAVVY: THIS CABLE WILL *NOT* WORK WITH HDMI DEVICES THAT ARE NOT *SPECIFICALLY* DESIGNED TO OUTPUT ANALOG SIGNALS, AND THESE DEVICES ARE VERY RARE. IF YOUR MANUAL DOES NOT *SPECIFICALLY* SAY HDMI ANALOG OUTPUT, THEN IT *WILL NOT WORK*!!! Don't blame the sellers or the manufacturers. The cables are not defective; They work when you connect them to the proper devices. The problem is that people see HDMI and Component and *assume* that they can just plug this into any old device without researching their device's capabilities. This is ONLY meant for a device that outputs analog via HDMI, and there's about a 99% chance that your Blu-ray Player, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, Wii U, Cable Box, Satellite Box, Roku, Set-top-box, Apple TV, or other device WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS CABLE. Again, this comes down to the DEVICE manufacturer, not the cable manufacturer. DO NOT BUY THIS TO CONNECT TO ANY OF THE ABOVE DEVICES, BECAUSE IT WILL *NOT* WORK, and it's simply not meant to. For the 1% of devices that do use this cable, it works perfectly well. Four stars for basic build quality and function, PLUS one star to make up for all the negative reviews from people who accidentally bought this without doing a little research into their device's capabilities, first.
