Farberware vs Ecolution Griddles
Until now, I've always purchased the $12 griddles from a local brick & mortar. However, the no-stick coating always seems to scratch easily, even when using plastic spatulas. They also warp if you put them under cold water before they cool. Thus, I began a web search for something better.
I was somewhat skeptical about paying nearly double for the Ecolution so immediately upon receipt, I did a side-by-side comparison as you'll see in my 2 photos. Here are the differences I found:
1. Pan of the Ecolution is visibly thicker aluminum.
2. Farberware weighs 1.54 pounds, Ecolution weighs 1.885 pounds which is 22% heavier (more metal)
3. Handle of the Ecolution is definitely more comfortable than the Farberware
4. There are more concentric "ribs" on the bottom of the Ecolution which definitely affords better heat distribution
5. Ecolution griddle is slightly larger (more cooking area). In my 2nd photo the Farberware pan fits inside the Ecolution pan.
6. Cooking test. The no-stick coating of the Ecolution pan is definitely "slicker" than Farberware (food slides off easier).
BOTTOM LINE: I've come to the conclusion that the Ecolution griddle is definitely better and worth the price. The only
thing I have yet to test is what happens after a few cycles in my dishwasher so I may be updating this review in the future.
