I read the reviews on this item and hesitated, but seriously wanted to get our old VHS videos family movies into digital format. I did experience some frustration with copying directly to a DVD, mostly because I was in a hurry and didn't always pay attention. At the suggestion of our son, I decided to copy straight to our hard drive. Almost flawlessly 143 Gig of home video (about 48 hours of video) was transferred to my hard drive where I can now move it to storage on an external hard drive or make DVD movies from it. It copied the VHS in real time. I could stop the copying at any point and my video was there right up to the point I stopped it. I found it easier to just close program and restart to go on to the next VHS to copy, as I could not quickly see how to start new video project from the completion of the one I just finished. The finished product was in super good quality and easily viewed on our 48" TV even though the VHS's were 23 years old.
