There’s an inexpensive way to improve the filter
I’ve been using water fountains for years and having cracked a drink well ceramic pagoda I needed something ASAP, the problem is the pagoda is now $86 and out of my price point. After spending hours looking at less expensive fountains this one stood out. I have three cats, one loves drinking from the faucet while the other two drink from flat surfaces and this covered all bases, I really like that it’s sealed and covered unit, less dust and insects in the water is a major health benefit. It’s super easy to assemble and to take apart for cleaning. The pump on any water fountain is the weak link, they gum up or have hard water deposits which stops the motor, however about 95% that stop working are only in need of dissembling and cleaning, a quick soak in white vinegar and a shake will surprise you with what comes out. A lot of newer users generally just throw it out when it stops, your literally throwing money away. The fountain is listed as being made from ASResin which is a food grade non porous acrylic, it’s likely you use it everyday, everything from toothbrushes, coffee pods or contact lenses are made from it, it will bio degrade eventually in about 100 years though, along with the plastic bottles we drink from, which may be a deal breaker for some. I’m not a fan of the filter, a generic Mr Coffee filtration disc fits the tray perfectly and a pack of 12 costs around $10. I’m using one alongside the supplied filter disc. But the big question is what do the cats think of it? They loved it and jumped right in literally, getting their heads wet from the spout and dipping their toes in the bowl section out of curiosity. They’ve now figured it out though so everyone’s happy.
