Sonic Scrubber/Rubbermaid Reveal Comparison
4 nights ago I saw the Rubbermaid Reveal Power Scrubber on a website. It looked VERY similar to my Sonic Scrubber. Since the replacement brush and pads for the sonic scrubber are pricey and hard to find, I thought to myself, "Self, I wonder if i can use the Rubbermaid replacement brushes with my Sonic Scrubber". Then 2 days after that I broke my Sonic Scrubber (the head part broke off). I was bummed since I had a bunch of Sonic Scrubber pads and brushes for my Sonic Scrubber. So today I went to Target and bought the Rubbermaid Power brush. Below are the differences between the Rubbermaid brush and the Sonic Scrubber that I noticed.
Batteries: With the Sonic Scrubber I always had a difficult time putting the battery cap back on. Taking it off was simple. Putting the cap back on was tricky. If the green dots were not perfectly aligned the cap would not go on straight (and I would struggle with the cap for up to 5 minutes some times). That would leave a gap where water would get into the battery compartment. The rubbermaid's cap goes on quickly and straight. So instead of struggling with the damn cap I can get back to cleaning.
Handle & head: : It seems to me Rubbermaid is made with better quality rubber. The rubber is more "grippy" and feels as though it will not slip out of my hands. The head (the main part that does the actual scrubbing) both seem to be VERY similar in quality. They both offer replacement brushes. When replacing the brush the entire brush, head and neck area must be replaced. But Sonic scrubber also offers replacement pads. When replacing the pad you replace only the pad. Which is better for the environment and for the wallet. Hopefully Rubbermaid will soon start selling the pads.
Cleaning power: I feel no difference of the cleaning power. They both clean very well. The only difference is that the Rubbermaid has a pulsating option. If you press on the flat part of the button (or pull down) it will turn on, as soon as you lift your finger it turns off. The Sonic Scrubber had only one option, on or off. They are both a bit noisy.
Price: When I bought my Sonic Scrubber (a bit over a year ago) I paid almost $50.00 and paid almost another $50.00 for replacement pads and brushes. Today I purchased the Rubbermaid Reveal Power Brush for 12.99 and I had a (5% off) cartwheel coupon (I also had a manufacturer coupon for 2.00, but according to the sales associate Target no longer accepts manufacture coupons). Replacement brushes for the Rubbermaid are 5.99 on the Rubbermaid website. The Sonic Scrubber are anywhere from 8.00-30.00. The Sonic Scrubber has a large variety of replacement brushes and pads (cone brushes, upholstery pads, firm or soft bristle).
My conclusion: I like the handle area (the motor part, battery compartment and the pulsating feature on the Rubbermaid a lot more than the Sonic Scrubber. But, I love the variety of the brush/pad replacements of the Sonic Scrubber.
The best part is...the SONIC SCRUBBER HEADS ARE COMPATIBLE with the Rubbermaid Reveal Power Brush!
