Important literature for antiracist education
After listening to the author on several podcasts and reading his first book Stamped, I knew I needed this board book. I teach preschoolers in a diverse school where my white privilege is bound to affect my teaching, so I need to become an antiracist. I need to actively address ways my friends, co-workers, students and families are treated in society. This book is beautiful and rhythmic, so preschoolers will enjoy it. But it’s also direct and clear about racism and how to change. I thinks it’s appropriate for babies, children and even through 1st grade. The content is complex enough to engage higher order thinking skills for tough and necessary classroom discussions. Thank you for this book!!!
