Decent Control
First of all, this is no substitute for good training. If your dog is kind of an idiot like mine and pulls in certain situations, he’s still going to be able to pull you with this product. What this product does do is save your shoulders/arms a lot of wear and tear. I have an excitable, very strong, 55 pound standard poodle. He walks and jogs well most of the time, until he sees a car or squirrel that he wants and pulls like crazy. This is a very well made product. As soon as I put it on I could tell that my idiot dog wasn’t going to break it. Very heavy duty and easy to adjust. I connected my dog to both rings as instructed for best control. It was nice to not have to constantly pull on him to correct him. He pretty much reached the end of the bungee and got the idea that pulling wasn’t going to be terribly effective. I did still have to pay close attention to his body language because even with this device if he lunged at something without my being prepared, he definitely could pull me over. I’m not small and am athletic and reasonably strong, but if I was casually playing around with my phone like the video and not paying attention to my dog I would have gave planted. Again, this is a tool and not a substitute for training. Overall I am happy with this product. I anticipate it will hold up well over time, and after just one hike my shoulders are thanking me.
