55% or 80% VOC? Here's some information.
Decided to find out what the difference between 55% and 80% VOC versions were and wanted to share: TLDR: VOCs are volatile organic compounds that are in adhesives, inks, and hairspray like this one. If you're wondering if you should get the 55% or 80% version, it's going to be the 55% unless you're in Texas or North Carolina where they are allowed to purchase the 80% version. There was a famous Sebastian Shaper spray that came out a few years back that was one of the best sprays out there (and was an 80%). After the new regulations, people complained about counterfeit product but in reality, they were forced to change their formulation to a 55% variant. In just the same fashion, Kenra has 2 versions. I believe the 80% will have a stronger hold but from my experience, the 55% holds just fine for the entire day just the same. And lastly about VOCs themselves: the chemicals themselves react to nitrogen to form ozone so the higher percentage ones will be slightly more harmful to the environment. And that's how they contribute to the ozone greenhouse gases effect.
