used for a camp shower
Used it last weekend on a three day camping trip. I mounted the heater on a simple 2x4 stand with a 12VDC RV Flojet pressure regulated water pump powered by a 12VDC car 'jumper box'. I made a pvc 'shower tower' in a shower tent with a simple wooden floor and hung the spray head on the tower.
The heater worked great. Hot water whenever we wanted. Only issue was that sometimes the temperature regulation varied a little. I think next year I will add a standard hot/cold valve assembly to the shower tower with a low flow shower head. This way a user can regulate the temperature while in the shower and not have to get out of the shower to change the temp. I'll just add a "T" to the pump output and use it for the cold side.
It was a big hit with the other campers. we had no local water hookup so I brought a 55 gallon garbage can we filled with water from a local campground. The water flow was such that it had about a dozen showers before needing to be refilled. The pump power lasted through the trip and even jumped someones car at the end of the trip.
I was a little worried about mounting the heater on the 2x4 frame as it might be a fire hazard. The wood got hot but not nearly enough to cause an issue. I might put some sheet metal on the wood next year just to be safe but I don't think it would every be an issue. The heater vents out the top so you have to make sure no one puts a towel on the top. I might add a little towel hanger above it so campers have a warm towel when they get out of the shower.
Only heater quality issue is that I had to bend the contacts in the battery box to get it to start.
I added a picture of the setup at the camp to the product gallery.
