These do require some assembly, and there is a little bit of a learning curve. I saw a video of a girl who said they didnt fit, however you have to fold the tabs in first so they click into place. While they are not hard plastic, they are still studry enough. I am pleasantly surprised at the quality of them. My only complaint is that there is no way to hold the stacks together horizontally. I'm very happy with my purchase. I bought 2 sets and will be buying another.
