If you're like me, you plugged it in without reading the instructions. If you use this to connect a new drive (such as an ssd drive that you're going to clone your hard drive to for swapping out your hd with an ssd), can't get the drive to show up in your file explorer, and are scratching your head over it, you need to format your drive. In Windows, you need to go to Computer Management (easiest way for me is to go to Control Panel, change the View By option to Small Icons, double click Administrative Tools, and then double click Computer Management). In Computer Management, go to Storage / Disk Management. It'll take a second or two, but your hard drives, including the new, unformatted drive, will show up at the bottom. Right click on the blank partition and you can then select to format it.
