Brilliant
Oh Tarryn. Bad Mommy is the third novel I’ve read by you, and now I have to confess. You did it. You made me be obsessed with you. It’s your fault. You wrote these dark magical words and then I innocently followed you on Instagram. And you’re so pretty, and your hair is so shiny, and how can I resist your outfits or decorating? It’s impossible! Also, I may need to start copying those cool white boxes on your photos. I know how much Fig loves them. I already bought that one leather backpack you linked (I’ve received lots of compliments, thanks) and ok fine I even bought that damn weighted hula-hoop (not that I’ve used it). Next up, I need to find that whale shower curtain and maybe the teal paint. Is this stalkerish?! Am I obsessed? Maybe I need to make an appointment with Darius. I wonder how Darius would diagnose me? Perhaps he’d think I was just a little bit stalkerish but not full-blown crazy stalker? Or better yet, I’d have Jolene observe me, what would she think? What would Fig and her loony eyes see when they looked at me? I’m going to put my obsession aside for a moment. Can we talk about this insanity I just read from you? First, I think you’re brilliant and maybe a little crazy. Second, I’m a little bit scared of you, but I’m more scared of your observers. Third, I’m in awe of you and your top knot and your words and your brain and your storytelling and, my god, I hope not a word of this story is true because … I keep picturing Misery and hearing the shower scene music from Psycho. Why are people so g-ddamn crazy? It’s a question I ask often. I can’t say much else because I want your observers, I mean readers, to go into this book without knowing much about Fig or Jolene or Darius. They should just know that your twisted tale and creepy characters were exhilarating and made my cold black heart start and stop over and over. Bad Mommy is basically a freaking Christmas miracle that everyone needs to read. It's like you gave me the best present ever so thank you for that. And even if I have to wait another year for a new masterpiece from you, I’ll do so patiently while I stalk your insta. Your words are worth the wait.
