We built a pergola this year and I knew I wanted to treat the sides in some way. We started out with bamboo, but did not like the result. I ordered one of these and Liked it so much we ordered 2 more. Installation is a bit of a trick, you must be perfect. measure 3 times, then screw. If you buy the 8', remember 94.75" from screw to screw. Speaking of screws, if you are going into wood, throw the ones that come with the unit away. They are for drywall only. I pre-drilled wholes and the screws are so cheap they still striped the head. Do yourself a favor and get some stainless steel screws of the same size. March 2011 update- I ordered 2 more of these in a 6' width and had to deduct 1 star. Even though I ordered the same color, it did not match and the end pieces went from "sand" to "black". They also changed the shipping container and all the end piece covers were smashed to bits. Even with these issues I would order again as this older units are holding up well and the new units are of good quality. One last hint. The little end caps at the bottom of the unit tend to pull out if you use something to hold the shade down at the base. It would be wise to apply a little hot glue or a glue of your choice to fix these caps in place as a strong breeze will provide enough pressure to pull them out and loose the hold down clip.
