If you actually read the packaging you will see that Weber defines "instant" as a 15-sec response, and that is why I knocked it down a star. The good news is that I have found it to meet or beat that spec. I'm torn on the rating simply because I don't think a 15-sec response (especially when it's pushed as "instant") merits a full 5 stars - maybe a 4.8. Everything else is top-notch - the rotating head, easy reading, accuracy. Oh, and it's pretty hard to beat the price. I've owned several of this type at this price point (or a little higher) and none of the others come close.
