I have made exactly one meal with this, and I'm already overwhelmingly excited about the prospects. FROZEN CHICKEN BREASTS in 20 minutes, from freezer to mouth. No thawing all day, no microwave weird-thawing, no soaking in warm water in the sink all evening after work... I took chicken out of the freezer, put it in with some broth and light seasoning, and had plump, juicy breasts in my mouth 20 minutes later. My cooking duties switch frequently from 1-5 people, knowing that I can call on the Instant Pot to help boost my speed and efficiency is an enormous help. I can't wait to try more complicated recipes. Update: While I loved the instant pot initially, I noticed something that I couldn't get past and because of that the unit has been relegated to emergency duty only. It makes food bland. I understand that I, as the cook, am responsible for the taste of the food. I admit that I am reluctant to use excessive amounts of salt and have a tendency to add too much heat. I have made the same or similar food hundreds of times for my family (yes, boring but somewhat healthy at least) and know roughly how it will turn out. The instant pot muted the flavor somehow. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. At first this didn't bother me too much as I could simply adjust flavors afterward. But I realized at some point I was spending as much time repairing the taste as I saved in the actual cooking. That pretty much sealed the deal for me. For emergency speed cooking I still use it. I probably don't use it properly. I estimate how long to cook different meats/quantities and it usually turns out okay. Have done some ribs and pulled pork in record time that were perfectly acceptable. I removed a star because ultimately it is a great tool for the kitchen, but is has not held up to the lofty expectations I placed on it.
