It looks a little weird, but this is definitely worth buying. Overall, a great travel pillow for overnight flights.
I bought one of these "Ostrich" pillows in July 2013 and have been using it weekly ever since ... mostly, at home, but always on flights. The Good - Overall, it's an well thought out and designed pillow, and it's construction/build quality is excellent. I have had zero quality problems with it. Also, it's actually very comfortable to wear and I have, well - a fairly big, round head. In fact, my baseball cap size is well over 7". So if you have a big noggin, this should fit fairly well. Also, since the fit is not that tight, you really don't worry about SIDS (or suffocating) as a fully grown adult. As a consultant, I fly on planes (a lot) and this is where the pillow's well thought out design really comes handy. I gotta hand it to who ever designed this thing when it comes to on-the-plane use. During overnight flights - where the lights are off - I whip this pillow out and have never had a problem falling right to sleep. It will block out all light, and cut down on the sound. So if your next door neighbor wants to read their novel at 2 AM (when the rest of the cabin is blacked out) then you don't have to read along with them. Also (and this is a key feature), given that the top of this pillow flares out (making it look like a hammerhead shark) where the hand holes are, you are able to lean your head against the side of your plane seat without your doing the "nod" (the "nod" is that nasty head bob you do when you fall asleep and your head starts to fall forward and backwards.) One last thing regarding flights - if there are crying babies and you don't have noise cancellation headphones, you can pop in a pair of earbuds, slide this pillow on, and you are sleeping like a well-behaved baby. I suppose you could also pop your table tray down and use this pillow as you rest your head on the table tray, but I have not done that yet. I also rarely use the hand holes, but its good to have them there if you need to quickly scratch your head or adjust your earbuds. Finally, to carry this around when traveling, I usually slip my laptop carrying strap through the two holes at the top of the pillow. The Bad - To be honest, it does look slightly weird. So I would think twice about wearing it in public for two reasons - you look like a hammerhead shark when you have it on. And if you happen to be sleeping in public, you can't see anyone or anything. So if you have enemies, well you just made their sneak attack that much easier. Your hearing is not actually impaired too much because there are two holes (for your hands) located slightly above where your ears would be. One caveat - with the lights out on the plane, this is completely acceptable to wear in my opinion, because on an overnight plane, sleep trumps self respect. In the end, if you don't want to put it on your head, it actually makes a pretty comfortable "normal" pillow. The Fugly - Nothing to speak of - seriously, I would buy this thing again (for use at home) or as a gift for anyone that travels and has a strong sense of self-esteem. I do recommend You washing this pillow regularly. The pillow will cause a little head sweat, and after a few weeks of regular use, you need to do yourself a favor and put this in the washing machine. It does wash well in the gentle cycle of my washing machine.
