This cheese slicer feels like it will last much longer than any other I've owned. The wire is strong and solid and it cuts well. However, after just a few weeks of using it, the coating on the roller is coming off. The way I noticed was it was putting grey marks on the cheese as I sliced it (pictured). I probably wouldn't buy it again. Update from 2 to 4 stars: 3 years later and I'm actually still using this thing. Whatever that coating was came off completely over time, but the thing is still solidly performing like new. So once you get over that bad coating hill, it's great from there.
