Dust and fur grabbing little machine, for two months (see updates)
I got my Eufy in July 2018--a birthday gift I'd asked for--to help me deal with the daily dirt my four big dogs track in and around on the tile floors of our house. Eufy was better than I'd imagined (and I'd researched brands and read reviews). After about a week of running it twice a day, I was hardly having to do any supplemental sweeping or vacuuming at all--it's that effective. And it cleans under everything which is way better than I've ever managed to do! It gets stuck almost every cycle under one of my couches and occasionally it has some trouble finding the dock. But it cleans up so much dog fur, dust and dirt--all work I don't have to do, which is, honestly, thrilling every time I run it. After about two months though, it got fritzy--suddenly it was confused, constantly, about where to go next. It did a lot of spinning around before moving anywhere, would go a few feet and start spinning again. I contacted the manufacturer. Their customer support was very nice, prompt and helpful, and walked me through some trouble shooting which at first worked, and then didn't. They asked me to return my product, and shipped me a new one which arrived within a week. The new one works seemingly even better than the last--it hasn't once so far gotten stuck anywhere. And already after just 4 cycles my floors feel cleaner than they did after I swept them. I really love my Eufy--now if they'll just invent something that dusts, my life will be close to perfect!
Update December 2018: My replacement Eufy just developed all the same problems as the original. I tried all the trouble shooting techniques the Eufy team suggested on the first one: no help. I contacted customer service to see if they’ll help (I’m still well within the year warranty). No reply this time. Apparently, 4 months in, I’m out of luck. The customer service IS amazing: until it isn’t. I can’t recommend this product, I’m so sorry to say.
Update December 2018: Customer service has now contacted me and again suggested trouble-shooting that didn’t remedy the problem. They have offered to replace again. Which is nice. The difficulty now is that I’m going to be surprised if the next one makes it past 2 months. I will update—I want this to work—both for my sake and for the company’s.
Update April 11 2019: it’s been four months since I received my 3rd Eufy (second replacement) and it’s working great. I now also own a Robovac Roomba E5 and the Roomba, while seeming far sturdier than the Eufy, does maybe half the cleaning for more than 2xs the price. I infinitely prefer the Eufy: it’s lot’s quieter (Roomba is a family joke in our household for the way it bashes around), it can go under more cabinets and furniture because it’s slimmer, it hoovers up more, has better dust-bin capacity, and runs longer than the Roomba before needing to recharge. And it finds its way to its base about 95% of the time—I’d say the Roomba averages about 30% on successful re-dock. The Eufy is the better machine and FAR better for the money—if it lasts. I have a feeling we’re all being beta-tested on this machine, but if they work the kinks out, it’s going to be heads and shoulders better than Roomba.
