great led replacement lamp for a decent price
i bought this 6-pack directly from woot about a month ago. i'm mostly very happy with them at this point. of the four i've placed into use, they have all worked and are consistently the same color temp and brightness. they are very solid replacements for 60w incandescents or 13w cfl lamps. i know they're advertised as 3000k, but they feel just a bit higher than that to me, perhaps somewhere around 3500k. that's still well within the range of other lights i've seen advertised as 3000k though, so i'm quite happy with that. something i really like about these lights is that they are approximately the same size and shape as standard incandescent lamps, so there's no worrying about whether this will fit into a particular lampshade or fixture. these are also rated to be used in enclosures, which is nice because many led lights need air movement for heat dissipation. i placed one inside a globe ceiling fixture and have had no issues with it yet. as for the shortfalls of this product...the light doesn't shine downward (as in, back towards the base) as well as its incandescent and cfl counterparts, but that was to be expected with the "240 degree beam angle" claim. also, these are not "instant on" (a bit less than half a second delay) and they're not dimmable, but the cfl lamps they replaced in my house were neither of those things as well. energetic sells a dimmable version of these lamps, albeit for quite a bit more. initially, i was going to write this review with a 4-star rating. since writing it though, i have decided to push that up to 5 stars. these lights are everything they say they are. their price is (finally) inching towards consumer-friendly levels on standard led lamps. i obviously cannot comment on their claims of longevity, but if any of them fails early, i will come back and update this review accordingly. at this point, i'm quite happy with these lights, and i would definitely recommend them to someone looking to upgrade their home lighting to led. UPDATE 3/26/15 since these lamps have made it into the lightning deal again, i figured it was worth it to provide an update on the product. i've been using these lamps for around 5-6 months now, in a couple globe fixtures in hallways and also in the living room floor-standing lamps and the ceiling fan. none of the lamps has failed or decreased in light output. the color temperature is still very consistent across all the lamps. none of them have developed any "humming" or other sounds you tend to get with cfl lamps. i've actually picked up some more of these, in the lower-wattage dimmable version. haven't had a chance to install them anywhere yet, but i did test one and it's plenty bright for a bedside lamp or other low-light scenarios. i'm still very impressed with these lamps. and at this price, it's easy to give them a shot. if you're aware of their limitations (which are few) you'll be happy with them as well.
