This is my first attempt at installing & using an internet connected home device. The installation only took about 15 minutes. Once you download the app, it walks you through each step of installing the Gate smart lock into your door. The only minor delay was due to the WiFi connection part of the installation. However, I say it is minor because it connected on the second chance (could've just been a password error). My door was just the right size for the lock, so I did not need to use any spacers. The app seems to work great in my initial testing. It is easy to see the video, talk to whomever is at the door, lock/unlock the device, and add additional access for people. I really like the old-school key backup for this unit and think it is a great feature. I also like how easy it is to lock/unlock manually from inside. One suggestion to Gate would be to offer different colors/finishes in the future (it doesn't match my old/existing hardware).
