A simple lesson in kinetic energy transfer
One lazy afternoon I found myself wandering the isles of Target with my strapping young hulk of a son. We arrived at the Nerf toy section and immediately squared off. It was time to arm ourselves. My son chose the Shadow Fury long sword (blue) and I grabbed the Battlemaster Mace. When I grabbed the Mace it momentarily became tangled with the Warlock Axe which was hung beside it. My son leapt in and struck me flush on the side of my face during my moment of weakness. I yelped out in pain. The adrenaline coursed through my body and I yanked the Mace free snarling in fury. It was time to teach junior a lesson. I closed the distance between us and parried two of his thrusts. I parried another swing and gave him a boot in the butt. He became frustrated and lunged forward... just as I expected him to... I bumped him with my hip and knocked him off his feet. He crashed into the shelves and bounced to the floor. Junior scrambled to get back to his feet, but it was too late. I jumped in and kicked the Shadow Fury out of his hands. It sailed end over end into the next isle. Junior was unarmed and completely vulnerable. With quick leopard-like agility, I wrenched the shelf off its hinge and dumped the Nerf contents on top of my son. Footballs and foam swords buried Junior pinning him to the ground. Laughing manically I then pummeled him into submission. The match was over. I held the Mace of my head and bellowed in triumph. I take great pride in the defeat of my son, even though he's four...
