This new model rocks!
Like others, I have upgraded to this new version of the spiralizer. I like it more than the previous model, for a number of reasons. First, it is smaller and fits into the cabinet better. Next, and a real plus, as far as I am concerned, there is a little box to put the extra blades in. MUCH better than just having them lie willy nilly alongside the tool in the cabinet. The fine slicing blade seems to be somewhat finer than the one with my previous model. The first thing I made when this new spiralizer arrived was a batch of potato chips, believe it or not! The slicer cut the potatoes fine enough that once fried in the cast iron wok in a mixture of canola and coconut oil, they crunched, thin and crispy, a real guilty pleasure! But the absolute best improvement is a combination of two things. One is a strong suction cup, which holds the device absolutely rock solidly on the counter top. And this stability, in conjunction with the new, enlarged handle to push the sliding carriage into the blade, is what makes all the difference to me. Before, with the older model, when I wanted to cut something firm, say a potato, or sweet potato, or a wide carrot, I had to spread my left hand really wide, hooking my two last fingers over the blade holder, and then reaching out and hooking my thumb over the small metal fold-out handle. Then I could use that hand pressing down to stabilize the machine, while closing my hand to provide enough pressure to move the vegetable into the blades while I turned the rotating handle with my right hand. Luckily, I have large strong hands and I could do this. But now, with the suction cup to stabilize the machine, and with the new, larger fold-down handle to press the vegetable into the blade, I have much more control with markedly less effort while I spiralize firm veggies; my left hand pushes, my right hand cranks the rotating handle, and the vegetable gets sliced. This is a really functional upgrade to an already useful device.
