I bought these for my mom in Florida, lots of snakes, mice, bugs, etc. Installation was very easy, let it charge in the sunlight, then turn them on in the middle of the house. Wait a few hours, then move them towards the exterior walls gradually. That encourages the animals to leave the house. A day later, install them outside, I put them about 50' from the house and 75' apart. Flying bugs (mosquitos and wasps) don't come close to the house, haven't seen a snake or rodents since. Install them in sunlight, just a few hours of sun each day keeps them well charged. The only downside is a faint buzzing sound when within about 10', but it is much better than the nearly constant buzzing from the insects.
