Vanilla oleoresin is not an extract. It technically falls into the absolute category, as do others.
Notice the term oleoresin. You might notice the term absolute. For those of you doing beauty products, dabbling in aromatherapy, etc--do yourself and other consumers a favour--take classes in aromatherapy. Absolutes DO NOT dissolve in oils. If you ever bought true rose, Jasmine, or neroli--you would know they have been absolutes for many years as the petals cannot handle distillation. The way vanilla beans are matured and processed, they cannot be distilled normally. Do your research, learn how to read a GC/MS report. No, the drop of oil on paper test does not work. Most essential oils are adulterated by other oils, so the ring test is invalidated. Get facts, stop repeating nonsense.
Learn the chemistry of the oils. Learn why vanilla is fabulous to use for people who have anxiety and why. Take classes to learn proper dilution rates so you don't put too much of an essential oil blend on someone young, elderly, or sick. Learn the Latin names of essential oils so you can recognize that some of your favouriyoils might come in one or more phenotype, so you want to use the right one.
Learn that if you take a small blob of this absolute and place it in the bottom of a bottle of jojoba or almond oil for a few weeks, you'll soon have vanilla infused oil that you won't need %o pay extra for. Even more importantly, that blob lasts thru a few refills before the absolute wears out. It helps make a fabulous solid perfume, when you learn how to work with the product correctly.
In this day and age, there is no excuse to not read labels, not look things up, and not ask first before complaining loudly. I see this time and again lately with reviews, especially in aromatherapy. I look for quality reviews, but they seem far and few of late. There are some, and I commend you as you help provide knowledge and a balanced look. Especially when it tells me there are GC/MS reports readily available.
This vanilla will work for many uses. I've worked with other vanilla absolutes as well. I would use this again, easily.
