Continues to be perfect for the RV
We have a 43ft diesel pusher RV. After several GPS units proved unsatisfactory I finally sprang for this unit. Other considerations were the Trucker units, but the clincher here is this unit's ability to list RV parks. First, this unit is large, but not overly so. I worried that a 7" unit would be to big for my dash. No problem, it mounts easily and does not look out of place. The large screen is a welcome feature. The interface is Garmin, which I am familiar with so no problem updating this unit or operating it. I've used this brand exclusively as I started with Garmin and saw no reason to switch. Compared to the previous 4" unit, I was concerned that the suction cup mounting system would not hold this steady. In actuality this unit weighs noticeably more than the 4" one it replaced, but fits the same stem and does not move at all. Power is through a USB 5v 2.5amp = 10w or through a cigarette lighter plug in cord. Now comes the fun part. I got to enter my coach's height; length; weight dimensions and now asked for a route to another RV park. I know the area and knew that I have a very low overpass that I had to avoid. This unit routed me around the obstacle. That was a relief as my first experience in this area included the local police stopping traffic so I could turn around and take another route. I also queried the unit about fueling the RV. The list provided to me was acceptable. I knew that two of the fuel stops were able to provide me with a proper approach and exit to the pumps. Life time maps. That is a definite plus. I am very satisfied with this unit. I'll post future updates as we travel. Update. I glued the suction cup to the mounting surface as eventually it stopped holding vacuum. This has not moved in over a year. One very nice feature not mentioned is "voice command". You speak this to the Garmin and via voice command get and find many places with ease. There is a learning curve, but once I figured out the nuances this is a great feature. Map updates come quickly. I find myself updating the maps every couple of months. The screen is bright, I can see it even in the blaring sun. Comparing notes at RV functions, this Garmin continues to be the best for RV's, IMHO. This is one fine unit that I continue to heartily recommend.
