After going through a series of electric pencil sharpeners that started out ok but after a while started grinding and skipping, I bought this sharpener based on reviews by people that had the same experiences as I have had. I have not been disappointed. This sharpener results in perfect points every time, even with those pencils that have wood overlapping the lead on one side. I used to peel the wood back and try to get the sharpener to even it out, but results were uneven at best. With the Jarlink I simply insert the pencil and the sharpener stops when the point is perfect. Also, it takes up less room on my desk than the other ones I have owned. Since I haven't had it very long I can't attest to its durability, but I did sharpen about 100 colored pencils with no problem. Also, I have not put batteries in, so I don't know if performance is the same when battery powered. I power it by USB cord attached to my computer.
