I have an 11 year-old pit bull and he has had sensitive stomach and skin issues as well as recurrent ear infections over the years. Almost since the day we had this baby flown out to us from California, he required frequent veterinary care for skin and ear infections. He was constantly on a regimen of antibiotics and steroids to no avail. Nothing we purchased helped (organic dog shampoos, holistic products, etc.). He threw up all the time. His skin was mushy, red, swollen, and oozed. Surgery was required for both of his ears because of the constant infections and shaking his head and he developed hematomas. We were at our wit's end. We tried countless dog foods that we thought were good quality...they certainly weren't inexpensive. Because of the inundation of vet visits and mounting bills for him (we visited the vet no less than three times a month for years and it was never less than a few hundred dollars each visit), we changed vets and took him to Petsmart and bought a healthcare plan for him since that helped minimize the costs. They were no better at finding a solution for him either. In fact, he was misdiagnosed, sent home with a mass on his neck that they didn't aspirate and it burst requiring emergency treatment. It was then that someone suggested putting him on a grain-free diet and Blue Buffalo was recommended. That same day a rep for the company happened to be in the store and gave us information, coupons, and helped us pick out a food that would suit his needs best. It has been nearly two years and we have had one visit to the vet less his vaccinations and that visit was unrelated to his diet. A dog's natural diet shouldn't have grain anyway so this is the best choice for us since we are unable to put him on the primal raw diet for now. I highly recommend this product. After having such wonderful results, we switched our cats to this brand food as well.
