It works best when filling with as warm of water as tolerable, do not over do it your nasal canal is more sensative than your hands. For a good smooth flow, open your mouth and breath normally through your mouth while flushing your nostrils. Really focus on not closing your throat with the back of your tongue. Try saying AAAAAA like when in the Doctor's office getting a throat exam. There is a sweet spot to position the jet/vacuuming nose buds to get optimal results, so move the system around until you hear and feel the solution flowing strongest. You might need to purchase different size nose buds, the system comes with mediums. If it isn't aligned with your nostrils perfectly, the unit will hesitate and bubble until a clear pathway is obtained. Thats where getting good using practice will be helpful to not waste the saline solution. Lastly do this over the sink or a pail, excess solution will drip from your nose when the resovior empties. During the flush you might experience ears popping like on an airplane and other mild symptoms associated with the cleaning process. I've experienced draining long after the initial cleaning process when I bent over to pick something up or tie my shoe. Not pretty I know; however, the benefits that result from a cleaned airway will be noticeably improved. The instructions will not be as detailed as I so I'm hoping this is helpful. I often follow this cleaning with steam aromatherapy that you can find on Amazon. Update: I'm moving closer to a 5 star rating fellow Amazonians.
