No Holes in the Wall are Necessary if the Tower is Reconfigured
This review is for those who do not want to put holes into their wall in order to show that it is not really necessary if you reconfigure the design, which is not difficult to do. I actually did not want to purchase this because I did not want to have to put holes into my wall, but having purchased a product like it before, I knew that these types of trees are somewhat versatile when it comes to putting them together and I had ideas already on how to avoid nailing it to the wall. First, you do not have to put the platforms in the way in the original setup, you could arrange them however you like in between the sisal posts. So I arranged it with the largest platform only above one sisal post, and the smaller platform above the third sisal post (rather than the top). This keeps the weight lower to the ground, leaving it more stable. I also purchased 2 more sisal posts to use as supports at the bottom ($15 each), which you do not have to do, you can also make the tower one sisal post shorter and use that post as a support, which is sufficient for the lower height of the tower (but you should probably also lower the smaller platform to above the second post). You will have to put something in between the platform and the bottom support post to secure it tightly, I used the metal screw that is used to secure the smaller platform to the top, not screwing it in all the way so that it fits tightly between, and then taping it to keep it from unscrewing and thus becoming loose. I then taped only the top small platform to the wall using 2 strips of duct tape wrapped around themselves. You could also probably do the same to the other platform for more stability, but I did not do this. The tower is solid and does not shake at all even when I try to shake it. And even with 3 kittens on it and my adult cat jumping on it and climbing it, it remains stable (I put two pictures of the design with the cats on it). I also propped the tower next to a desk for additional support, but it's not really necessary. I hope this helps for those who do not want to nail it to the wall to give you some ideas to avoid this. And of course your setup could be modified or made even better, I just want to show that it is possible to avoid nailing it to your wall and it's not hard to do, just make sure you ensure that what you did is stable and secure before letting your cats on your design.
