Real Review, Should Read This...
This is a solid piece, you can feel it in your hands when you pick it up. It's unlikely to break in anything short of a tornado. It looks beautiful, and has the upper notch for a 1" pole to sit at a 45 degree angle (also has tightening screw), and the lower notch will let you put the 1" pole straight out at a 90 degree angle from the wall it is mounted on (if you use the lower notch with a 3x5 flag, it will be close to touching the ground unless you mount the bracket higher).
After reading all the other reviews, here is my take after purchasing this item.
-If you do your due diligence to properly prepare for mounting, you will be fine, and wont need additional hardware as some have mentioned. If you don't own a drill, you probably should buy tougher screws. If you dont pre-drill your bracket holes, you will 100% destroy the factory screws.
-If you're mounting into wood like a stud, or plywood under shingles, use a magic marker and mark the 3 holes of the bracket on the spot you'll be mounting it. You need to pre-drill a hole for each screw slightly smaller than the diameter of the actual screw. Then you can still screw in the bracket with the bronze factory screws without chewing the heads up. Drilling in the screw will chew it up, but by hand it wont unless you over-tighten. Over tightening is not necessary, just make it tight enough.
-If you're mounting to stone/concrete/masonry, you need a drill with a masonry bit slightly larger than the screw, and you'll need 3 plastic wall anchors (a few cents per piece). Mark & drill your holes to the depth of the wall anchors (or slightly longer for the length of the screw). Tap in your 3 wall anchors flush with the wall. Put you bracket up, and hand tighten the factory screws with a screwdriver. Again, a drill will probably eat the head of the screw.
You're finished, enjoy your flag!
