Strong cooling from a good unit...
I live in a big city in Southern Nevada, literally in the desert, where the temperature at the moment is reaching high triple digits. In other words, it's eff-ing hot here. I also live in a 2600 sqft two story house which, in the summer, uses a lot of power to cool down. My in-laws had a swamp cooler attached to their house that would cool it down to chilling temperatures but alas, due to HOA regulations, our house could not have one. So I got this to put in our kitchen. I had read the reviews but thought to give it a chance since it could still be used as a regular fan, which would still help cool things down in general. It was easy set up, really no set up at all, pretty much just plug it in and go. The water tank at the bottom holds quite a bit of water and at it's max and blowing on high it lasts around a week before having to fill up again. I took the advice of some other reviewers and put in ice from our ice machine, as well as re-freezable ice packs and the temperature difference has been amazing. I currently keep the air conditioner set at 80 degrees, (keep in mind it's around 104 outside and only getting hotter) where as in previous months I would have to have the house at 68-70 degrees to get cool. This cooler has made a huge difference in how cool this house is. Even though it's located in the kitchen, I can feel that cool air at the top of the stairs. We have ceiling fans in all our rooms, luckily, which help too, but I don't think I'll be decreasing the air conditioner temperature in the foreseeable summer with this cooler around. I'm hoping to see a difference in our power bill too, but it's still too early to tell on that front. My husband also takes this into the garage during the heat to work on his bikes and it's made a difference in temperature there as well. I'm not sure what environments other reviewers are using this cooler in, but this was made for but hot DRY climates, and in this climate it has been a game changer for me. I'll probably be purchasing another one as a gift to my sister who just moved here and hasn't acclimated to the heat (although I double anyone really acclimates to 100 degrees or higher).
