The TubShroom works exactly as advertised. It allows the water to drain, but it catches the hair for easy disposal. There's only one problem: our cat has decided that it's his, and he insists on pulling it out of the drain, carrying it out of the tub, and batting it all over the house. He's done this several times now. I would order another TubShroom just for him to play with, but I suspect he would still insist on pulling the one in the tub.
