Comprehensive review to be updated as pregnancy continues
I did a ton of research into prenatals and ultimately this is the one that looked the safest/healthiest. I’m 15 weeks pregnant and on my 2nd bottle. I’ll update my review as I get further along in my pregnancy cause I think that’s important to help other moms to be. I had a 15 week follow up and decided to see a nutritionist as well to make sure I was getting enough necessary vitamins. -My iron levels were reported to be great! These prenatals don’t have a ton of iron so I was worried but paired with healthy eating there’s nothing to worry about. -There’s no calcium but that’s a GOOD thing. Calcium BLOCKS iron absorption which is SO SO important. To work around this I bought Calcium/Vitamin D pills(600mg. 2 servings) and take ONE pill a day, preferably at lunch with dairy. Based on my diet I was already getting at least half if not all my needed calcium so I only needed to take a calcium pill on days I wasn’t eating as much dairy. - I counted my pills. Both bottles had the correct amount(120 in my case) - There IS a lot of cotton in the bottle. Leave it in there! The cotton will prevent moisture build up which can cause mold growth. This is just a personal observation/opinion but the cotton is there for a reason :) - I didn’t have any issues taking them(gag reflex etc) I only ever faltered swallowing if I was really full/ ate too much as I always take my prenatal after breakfast and dinner(I like to think it’s going to absorb better that way) -there’s no DHA but you can easily meet the recommended amount by having 4-8 ounces of fish a week. So far I really love these prenatals. My first trimester I had no morning sickness but had a lot of food aversion and lost my appetite! I had no interest in food(especially grilled meats) so it was really difficult/worrying in the beginning if I was getting enough vitamins and such. I feel like these really helped a lot, especially during the first trimester. I’m not perfect and there’s days where I don’t eat a fully balanced meal(something I’m now trying to balance my carbs/protein in each meal after seeing my nutritionist now that my appetite has returned!) and I feel like these have really helped fill in any missing gaps. My nutritionist even had this prenatal on her list that other patients were taking and she had nothing bad to say about them :). I think the Baby and me 2 is better/safer as it doesn’t have all kinds of herbal ingredients which it was recommended to me that you really don’t want to take medicinal herbs while pregnant. I hope this review helps ease others worries. I’ll update this again around my 3rd trimester(might see nutritionist again once I’m further along) or after birth :)
