I just got my canister, so I can't really speak to freshness of coffee yet. But I like the look of the canister and how it is made. Love the little scoop and that it hangs on the outside. (I did receive the scoop and extra breather valves with my canister. A few reviewers complained that they didn't.) My one comment, which I hope might be helpful to others, is that I couldn't find any written instructions on how to open the lid and get the breather valve out. I wanted to take it apart and clean it thoroughly before adding coffee the first time. A folder of instructions came with the canister, but mainly it just had pictures. Call me slow, but I couldn't figure them out. I really needed someone to just say, "Open the canister, put your thumbs in the center of the bottom side of the lid and push. The date tracker pieces and the breather valve will pop out of the top." Now that I've figured that out, I'm a happy camper!
