We have a pit bull in our neighborhood who is allowed to roam and charges us on our walks (I have two cocker spaniels). I think it's a young dog, untrained and SOO strong! It won't leave us alone and bumps me with it's head and knocks my dogs over and they are terrified. At least it hasn't been overly aggressive. Just annoying. The dog is relentless, following us all the way home and charging and scaring my dogs (who have both shrugged out of their harnesses to try to get away.) I called the city multiple times with no results. So I decided to turn to sprays. First I tried citronella spray which was supposed to deter dogs. Nothing. I emptied the entire bottle into it's face and it was totally fine. Next time I tried police strength pepper spray. The dog didn't love it but it wasn't deterred and would just stop every now and then to rub it's face in the grass. Same thing....I had emptied the entire bottle by the time I got home. So, I decided to try HALT! when I saw it was recommended by postal workers. I've encountered so many delivery people with bite wounds!! I was THRILLED with Halt! spray worked the first time. I sprayed a quick spray into it's face at about 5 feet away and it ran off and didn't follow us. The next week we encountered the dog on a different street and it took one look at us and ran off. So it finally got the message to leave us alone!! Now I know I am armed with something that will help keep us safe from roaming dogs.
