My Bissell ProHeat broke and after reading reviews I bought this one which was about $40 more. In a lot of ways this one is better. Much larger water tank, much larger dirty water tank, it has wheels which are great and the luggage style handle makes it easy to get it around. It is very loud, louder than the Bissell and it is quite a bit more machine to store. It takes up a much larger footprint. I wasn't too sure about it at first as I didn't really feel like it was cleaning quite as well. But I realize that I was holding the brush at the same angle I did the Bissell and The Rug Doctor requires it to be straight up and down instead of at an angle when you pull to suck up the dirty water. It is making my carpets remarkably cleaner. After a few weeks I am extremely satisfied. I do think the Bissell is still a great product for its money so don't break the bank for small jobs just to get this machine. I've been using it mostly for cat throw up as I have an elderly cat with acid reflux. His food tends to stain the carpet and just does a great job of removing the stain, not just the dirt. The largest flaw in this machine is filling up and emptying the water containers. The clean water tank cannot sit in the sink so you must have two people or at least your cleaner open and ready to pour one handed. Even after reading that in reviews I still dropped it a couple times when I first got started. So make sure you do it over a sink. I have also spilled the waste water tank like other reviews mentioned but I do love that the bottom comes off and I can clean any dirt residue out. That was not an option with the Bissell. I also ordered The Rug Doctor carpet cleaner which I think doesn't completely get odors out of the carpet and I don't enjoy the smell as much as the Bissell. So I may try this machine with my old pet cleaner after it's gone. Then I'll know if it's the cleaner or the machine that's doing such hard work. If you do have to clean up a poop mess, like I did when my dog got into something she shouldn't have, you will notice a very strong odor coming through the vent of the machine as you clean it. I don't know why that happens and I wish they could fix it. I was worried it would ruin the machine but it seems to be fine. And my picture I show that it does seem to leave a lot of water in my carpets because the clean water tank was totally full and as you can see the waste water tank is nowhere near the same amount of water that was expelled from the clean water tank during its last use. That is a big negative.
