Great OBDII reader for the price. Only a few wishes...
I purchased a second BAFX Bluetooth ODBII reader for my car, partially because I missed being able to use my previous one and partially because I was shopping for an additional vehicle and wanted another OBDII reader for that vehicle. My original vehicle is a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with over 200K miles on its odometer and my OBDII reader helped me several times to avoid panic when running low on fuel. It's fuel percentage feed, when combined with the Android Torque app were a lifesaver. It also helped me to identify a transmission issue that required some repair as well as a failed O2 sensor. I was very happy with the combination of my OBDII reader and Torque app for Android. Until... I normally park my Jeep on a downhill slope and I live in Florida (which means lots of rain). My driver's side sunroof drain either clogged or the hose cracked and started leaking rainwater into the cabin of my Jeep. The drip fell behind the dashboard and onto the OBDII reader, which stopped working. Wishlist item 1: Sealed/waterproof OBDII reader. The really great part about this reader though, is that after it dried out for a few months, now it works as before. I was not able to use this reader with the Torque app however, to reset manufacturer-specific information, such as programming keys. This capability wasn't an expectation, but it sure would've been nice. I wound up purchasing a different brand of OBDII reader to work on my wife's 2008 BMW 328i. Wishlist item 2: Interface with vehicle-specific settings. My third wishlist item is actually for the Torque app instead of the ODBII reader. My Torque app connects to a single Bluetooth device. I'd like for it to automatically detect and switch to any other compatible device that my phone is paired with. Overall, I'm really happy with this product. I think I paid quite a bit less for the second one vs. the first one, but I'm not complaining about that. -- DW
