We have had some issues with our heater which acted up this year. It is getting REALLY cold, but our heater is unable to be run. Our house is pretty well insulated, but we needed something to help. Let's see what happened with this heater.. WHAT IS THIS HEATER LIKE? This heater is a little radiant heater. It is26x12x6 inches in size. There is a beautiful champagne gold front framed digital setting/readout. There is also a nice little remote. REMOTE This remote is very small. The trick to this is putting it on veclro to stick it up on a wall or place where you won't lose it. It is very small and thin- easy to lose. The batteries come in it and it has a plastic sheet to keep the batteries from draining during shipping. Make sure to remove it before first use. The remote is very handy and works well although you do have to be facing it head on to make it work well. WHEELS There are two brackets with wheels on it that you have to put on the bottom of the heater when you get it. You are not supposed to use the heater without them installed. They are completely free to rotate 360 degrees and are easy to move and steer. CORD The cord and plug are only about five feet or so long (It is plugged in and running or I would measure exactly) so you either need an outlet nearby, or an extension cord built to handle high demand of appliances like this. HEAT The heat quality of this is very nice. It is a gentle heat that does not dry out the air like some others we have had. It goes up to the preset temperature and then it flashes when it gets there. It will continue at that temperature for the amount of time set on the timer. TIMER The timer works very well. We have used this overnight and put it on for six hours to keep it warm but not too warm in the house. IS THERE ANY FAN IN THIS? Therre is not a fan driving the air around the room in this. ARE THEIR FUMES LIKE A VENT FREE? I am addressing this because if you are very sensitive to vent free heaters like I am, this is a CRITICAL question. No, this unit is completely sealed. There are no odors at all on this and no fumes at all. I am so happy about that. WHERE TO USE THIS Our house has very low ceilings and a central spot where we put this to help keep the chill off of the main section of the house. It is designed for one room, so if you have high ceilings or a very large room, I would not recommend using this as a primary heating source, only for a boost on really cold days. ACCURATE? This is fairly accurate. It does warm up a few degrees above target and then cools down until it kicks into the preset you have put it on. WOULD WE BUY IT AGAIN? We would definitely buy it again. ANY WARNINGS? The one thing to keep in mind is that this is supposed to be 3 feet from walls or obstacles when running. You can not expect to cram this into a tiny spot with no circulation of air around it. The heat comes out of the sides not the front and bac. THE BOTTOM LINE This heater has been a godsend. We love how it takes the chill off the air until our main heater is fixed. This is not designed for large spaces, but in our small home with low ceilings it has taken the chill off of a few small rooms perfectly until our heater is fixed. It is a great backup heater. MY RATING FIVE STARS. I love this heater and am very glad we have it. It has helped so much during this frustrating time when our heater has to be fixed.
