This light is great for what it is. It will not replace my motion activated floodlight, but, it provides lighting in an area where I don't have electrical service and don't want the expense of running wire. I have mine set up to remain dark, until it detects motion, then it will shine at its brightest setting. It provides enough light, that I could read a book standing under it and I can see clearly within 5-10 feet, and a little out to 15-20 feet, but, it doesn't provide a "flood" or "broad" light, to illuminate the entire area. I mainly bought this as a deterrent to trespassers and it will hopefully the job. The light is small in size, but, feels rugged and solid in construction. The screws that came with it are crap and I tossed them and used proper screws. I had it mounted to the side of a building in literally five minutes. As a note, we had a power outage for several hours a few nights ago and my flood lights failed because they are connected to the grid. This light would be great for that type of situation and I plan on adding several more in the near future, for that reason. UPDATE: The light has been operating for a month now without a problem. Even though I have this light mounted in a position where it doesn't receive full sun, due to the overhanging roof of the building it is mounted to, it seems to charge fully and operate at the same brightness as when I installed it. It has also rained heavily here in Florida over and over, soaking this unit completely each time. The water beads up on the surface and evaporates afterwards and I have seen no signs of faulty seals, water inside the unit, etc. This is a rugged light and I am definitely going to be buying more of them.
